Best of the Blog 2023

As is tradition here on the blog, the first post of the New Year, counts down the most popular projects from the year before. This year's most popular projects are a great mix of the types of projects I like to do on the blog, so let's get started!

The #1 most popular project this year was a 3D print project making a Faux Stained Glass suncatcher of a cardinal. These 3D print projects often don't get too many views since the pictures shared on social media are usually enough for folks to get a general idea, but this one had multiple parts and drew readers in to check it out.

The #2 most popular post on the blog this year was a bit surprising. It was a colored pencil review and discussion of swatching. I love coloring and colored pencils, but I never know if there's anyone else out there interested. I think I probably need to post my swatching file for all the other adult coloring fans.

#3 on the list of most popular posts of the year was less of a surprise. Finally, an alcohol ink project. I used some T-Rex ink and fire to apply alcohol ink to some square vases.

The #4 most popular project was another alcohol ink project. This was an alcohol ink washer necklace post (there have been many of those throughout the years), but for these washer necklaces, I also used UV resin to seal them and make them glossy.

UV resin is fairly easy to use and works great on washers. The best part is, unlike my other favorite way to seal washer necklaces (Dimensional Magic) which takes a day to dry, it cures in minutes.

The #5 most popular post from the blog this year was a vinyl decal on a Dollar Tree metal sign. These were so fun, that I've actually made a few of them this year. But this version (below) got the most views.

Now that we've gone through the top 5 posts (all projects from the first few months of 2023), I thought I'd share some of my favorite projects from the year that haven't had as many views. The first honorable mention is the Denim Rag Wreath. Made from scraps and a Dollar Tree wreath form, this was a ton of fun to make and looked adorable on my door.

My next honorable mention was a project where I inked Yupo Paper (a plasticized paper) and used a circle punch to apply the inked paper to a bezel to make necklaces. This one was a ton of fun and turned out great!

And my last honorable mention goes to a fairly recent project that turned out better than I expected. Using another Dollar Tree sign, this time a wooden one, I used some vinyl decals to create a resist between two paint layers. This Pumpkin Spice Sign will be a fall decoration for years to come.
