Best of the Blog 2023

As is tradition here on the blog, the first post of the New Year, counts down the most popular projects from the year before. This year's most popular projects are a great mix of the types of projects I like to do on the blog, so let's get started! The #1 most popular project this year was a 3D print project making a Faux Stained Glass suncatcher of a cardinal . These 3D print projects often don't get too many views since the pictures shared on social media are usually enough for folks to get a general idea, but this one had multiple parts and drew readers in to check it out. The #2 most popular post on the blog this year was a bit surprising. It was a colored pencil review and discussion of swatching . I love coloring and colored pencils, but I never know if there's anyone else out there interested. I think I probably need to post my swatching file for all the other adult coloring fans. #3 on the list of most popular posts of the year was less of a surprise. Finally, a...

Happy New Year from Sarah Jane's Craft Blog! As has been a tradition for the last several years ( Best of the Blog Lists ), I've tallied up the most popular posts/projects of the previous year to share with you. The #1 most popular post of 2022 was this adorable 3D printed octopus . The #2 most popular post on the blog this year were these blown Alcohol Ink Mugs . This wasn't my first time inking mugs, but it was my first time using these mugs from Dollar Tree. The third most popular project on this year's blog was my Alohamora Key Rack . Once I finally found the right sized screws to hang this up, it's been holding our keys ever since! The #4 most popular post of the year was this lovely heart plate I made with alcohol ink and a vinyl heart to block the ink. The #5 most popular post of the year was this alcohol ink Rose Bowl.  Trying to achieve a rose pattern with alcohol ink has been something I wanted to try for quite a while. I was excited when I got it to mos...

Happy New Year! For the last several years, I've used one of the first posts of the New Year to share the best projects from the previous year. Click here: Best of the Blog to view previous year's lists.   To start the list, I'll share the most viewed projects from last year. The first up is my Frequently Asked Questions about Alcohol Ink post. I hope this article helps crafters who are just starting out with Alcohol Inks or who are interested in getting started. The second most viewed project, was my Faux Stained Glass Panels project. These were a ton of fun to make and looked great hanging in my window most of last year! The 3rd most popular post from last year were these Plastic Wrap Alcohol Ink Switch Plates . I love using the plastic wrap method for applying ink. It's so easy and the results are so much fun. The 4th most popular post of the year was this Alcohol Inked Glass Plate Backed with White Spray Paint . This is the only post in the top 5 that I'd ki...

To say that this year has been unusual would be an understatement. When I found out I'd be home, well, pretty much all the time, I figured I'd be doing more crafting. But, somehow, there was always something else to do. I did manage to get some awesome crafts completed this year, so I thought I'd share my most popular posts and a couple that I think turned out well that haven't been getting as much love. 1. Plastic Wrap Alcohol Ink on Small Bowl This little rainbow inked bowl turned out amazing and earned the most views this year. 2. Making a Fabric Olson Face Mask  and Modified Olson Mask Tutorial My tutorials for creating the Olson face mask came in at #2 and #3 this year.  3. Alcohol Ink Laminator Pouch Sun Catchers These cute suncatchers came in as the next most popular post this year. They also inspired several subsequent projects (after I learned it was possible to ink laminator pouches): Shamrock Sun Catchers , Pumpkin Sun Catchers , Jack-o-lantern and Leaf Sun ...

Best of the Blog: 2019

It's that time of the year again--time to reflect on last year's awesomeness before we move on to this year's awesomeness! So, let's look back on last year's most popular posts on Sarah Jane's Craft Blog: The #1 Most Popular Post of 2019: Flamed Alcohol Ink Washers . I have inked steel washers a few different times on the blog. Most of the time, though, I stamp the washers . Their small size makes other application methods a bit tricky, but I tried out a drip and flame method that had successful results! If you think this post looks similar to the last project, you are totally correct. The second most popular post of 2019 was Glazed Alcohol Ink Washers which was posted the following week and used the washers I created from the last project, but this time I tested different types of non-resin glazes on the washers. Since the finished result looks pretty similar to the previous project, I thought I'd throw in a process photo from te...
